Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Gates Shellhaas brings a lifelong appreciation for Southern craftsmanship, architectural heritage, and community to every project he undertakes. He grew up on job sites, working alongside his father throughout high school and learning firsthand the discipline, integrity, and attention to detail that define exceptional building.
After earning his degree from Clemson University, Gates returned home to lead his family’s construction company, guiding it for five successful years before charting his own path. With a vision for refined, client-centered design and a commitment to preserving Charleston’s historic character, he founded Isle Custom Homes.
